In the beginning

I've been out in my dirt plot working for about 3 weeks now. When I arrived to the Smiley community garden that first day the weeds had grown in over the winter. I went to my garden daily for a week pulling out each weed by hand. Last week I went in and laid my organic ground amender to soften my soil. Today I took my hubby Glenn to do one last turn of the soil. Once the soil was turned I reconnect my drip system and set the timer. Justin couldn't wait to get started on planting so I allowed him to plant one pink impatience.(Is that how it's spelled?) I planted Cilantro, Parsley and Sweet Basil. From last summer I still have thriving Lemon Thyme, Oregano and perennials. I can't wait to start planting each new day. I hope you will be inspired to try out gardening for yourself if you haven't already.
" I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener, He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful." John 15 :1
